Little Owls in an ancient Olive, Andalucia

Little Owl

Medium: Pencil

Probably my favourite bird in the UK, I have always delighted in seeing their angry little faces and little round bodies. Having spent some time living in Southern Spain it was great to hear and see them in the totally different environment of an olive grove. From early February their plaintive call rang out but their cryptic grey plumage made them difficult to pick out against the gnarled trunks of the old olive trees. This piece was selected for the 2011 Artists for Conservation exhibiton. Original artwork 52cms x 37cms.

Original for sale: £550
